Speech and Language Therapy
The speech and language therapist (SLT) may meet with us on a one to one and/or group basis. She helps us get concentration, memory, thinking and communication skills, which can be affected by illness, back on track.
In the Media Matters group the SLT helps us recover our listening, word and conversation skills by exploring material from tv, newspaper, radio and internet.
The SLT and psychologist also offer Hearing Voices groups for some of us who have unusual experiences. The group helps us to understand the experience, express how we feel about them and learn ways to manage them and feel in control.
The SLT will also meet with us, our family and our school to provide information and advice on getting back to learning.
